From Grandfather to Grandchild
A Century of Experience
The year is 1915, "Beekeeper Ömer Efendi" from Erzurum takes over the profession from his father, the well-known beekeeper of the province.
When the surname law was passed, he registered his father's profession by taking the surname Balcı, which is his family nickname.
He took the four boys to the best place in the region. Ömer Balcı, who trained them to be good beekeepers, passed away in 1962, leaving his children his vast experience and principles of "honesty".
Fuat Balcı, one of his children who graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, continues this 50-year-old beekeeping tradition. By strengthening his scientific studies, he receives the title of "Doctor" and has a say in our country in both practical and theoretical fields. He has guided Turkish beekeeping at the bureaucratic level in technical and administrative terms for many years.
He chairs many commissions on beekeeping, including TSE, and writes articles, research and books. Dr. Fuat Balcı, his sons, each of whom he raised as good Balcı
M. Nevzat – To Sedat Balcı He continued the 95-year family tradition with the pride of passing this beautiful profession to his grandchildren Tahir and Mehmet Feyzi, and passed away in 2017.
